Waiting…

Right now we’re playing the waiting game.
Waiting to hear back about jobs…waiting to move…it’s stressful, time consuming, full of pressure.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who needs to hear this today:

Psalm 37:7- Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him….
Psalm 27:14- Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the LORD.
Psalm 37:9- Those who wait for the LORD, they will inherit the land.
Psalm 37:34- Wait for the LORD and keep His way, And He will exalt you to inherit the land.

And after we have seen Him complete what He promised us:
Psalm 52:9- I will give You thanks forever, because You have done it, And I will wait on Your name, for it is good, in the presence of Your godly ones.

God bless you today, and give you strength to restfully wait in Him until He acts. 🙂

This was really an awesome post. Thank you, “Did Jesus Have a Facebook Page” for writing it!!

Did Jesus have a Facebook Page?

God gifted many people with the vocal cords of angels. Musical geniuses, worship leaders, choirs, the Jennifer Hudson’s and Josh Groban’s of the world are blessed to open their mouths for all to hear their Adams Apples move.

We are surrounded by music on the radio, TV, concerts, Church and even in the shower. Musical prodigies and instrumental virtuoso’s have no limit in today’s culture. The harmonious melodies of all varieties are heard from the “Church in the Wildwood” to The National Anthem to American Idol.

Venues of rock concerts to the local taverns have skyrocketed talent that otherwise we would never know about.

But….I don’t have Celine Dion’s larynx or our church worship leader’s vocal box. The day God gave “sets of lungs” I must have been absent. Why he didn’t give me notice I still haven’t figured out.

I wanted to sing. Not sound like…

He blesses us with the little things :)

As I was cooking and cleaning this morning in the kitchen, I had no place to put my spatula! I thought/half prayed, “I wish we had a spoon dish…” A few hours later, I went downstairs to do laundry and on the landing was the mail…and a spoon dish! I was like, “No way…” Apparently our landlord was going through her stuff, figuring out what she doesn’t want, and found one that she wasn’t going to use, and she gave it to us! She had no idea that I wanted one!

Thank You, Lord! 🙂 You bless us in the little things.

Has God ever drawn you to silence?

“Suddenly, in mid-prayer, I felt compelled not to say another word. I felt drawn instead to reflect silently on the assumptions hiding underneath my prayers. What did they tell me that I really believed about God and His desire to act? What did they reveal about how I thought God was hearing my prayers at that very moment?” – Bruce Wilkinson, in You Were Born for This

I remember another time I was trying to pray…trying to read the Bible…but all I kept feeling God say was, “Rest. Stop. Rest. No. Don’t pray. Don’t read. Just be there.”

And then He gave me a vision of a friend that then I was compelled to contact and it changed my summer!

Has anything like this happened to you?

Psalm 46:10
Be still and know that I am God.” 🙂

It’s okay!

It’s okay to be quiet.

Do you ever have one of those days when you have no clue what or how to pray? It’s just like the words are dry coming out of your mouth, you are thankful but you just can’t put it into words? You want something but you don’t know how to express it? Or everything you think of just seems inadequate? Plain? Dull? Unimportant?

That totally happened to me yesterday. And I was trying to struggle through it, typing prayers that felt a little bit empty. But then I realized…it’s okay to be speechless.

It’s almost cool to not have anything to say in front of God. It’s certainly not something to be embarrassed of! And I remembered that sitting at His feet is pretty awesome too. And I was glad I didn’t have anything to say! Then I read His words instead 😉

After all, God is in heaven, and you are here on earth. So let your words be few.” Ecclesiastes 5:2 NLT

So awesome! Thank you, One Passion, One Devotion!

i can do all things

through Christ

who gives me strength

who empowers me

who leads me

who connects me with people and circumstances

who directs me into lives

it is His wisdom

and His words

and His heart and His perspective i need

i feel so inadequate in the face of what i know and what i see

but i know that He sees the unseen and the invisible

and that He speaks the truth that brings freedom

and He has the power that brings life

so i lean on Him

i lean into Him

i trust

i keep my eyes fixed on Him and take confidence in the glimpses where i know He is at work in and through me

where tears fall and where hearts soften and mend

let the weak say, i am strong

Upheaval!

I wrote a few days ago about wanting to move in with a relative of my husbands. We were thinking about moving, praying for a place. And then this person decided she didn’t want to do it anymore. Leaving us in some confusion.

Welll, it appears that the Lord knew better than we did! (Of course!) He started preparing us for the news that was coming by putting the idea in our heads to want to move.

We found out last night that our landlord, as much as she loves us, has to have her daughter and grandson move in upstairs (into OUR apartment) because of their financial difficultly.

…within 30 days.

?!

So, we are praying, praying, praying, looking, asking, awaiting with excitement to see what God does within this month. It’s going to be a whirlwind, and we’ve got to start packing very soon (where do we start!? Does anyone know any good resources or have any tips for packing in a very short time?? Or just packing, period?).

So if you would pray with us, we would really, really appreciate it!! And pray for God’s provision in other ways too! Thank you in advance!!

It’s funny, you know? He was preparing us to look for a place. Now He’s going to prepare a place! hehe. Really, though, I’m so thankful that we were thinking about it already. It’s amazing what God does when you ask Him to lead and guide you. He even prepares you for surprises! And I know that wherever we’re going next…it’s going to be better! We would love to rent a house 🙂

My God shall supply all of my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus! Philippians 4:19!

Ever have questions…

about present-day prophecy, speaking in tongues or praying for healing?

I’m so excited to announce that
How & Why to Pray for Healing, Pray in Tongues & Give Prophecy is now available on
Kindle and Kindle apps for only $4.99!

If you have questions about spiritual gifts, like these ones:

  • So it’s obvious that Jesus healed. But He’s God! Of course He could do that. But what does that mean for everyday people like me?
  • If I do receive my own “prayer language,” how should I use it in public?
  • Well, what if I ask for the gift of tongues, but I don’t receive it?
  • Let’s say I do have the gift of prophecy. How do I know when God is talking to me?
  • What if someone walks up to me and tells me something and they say it’s from God, but I’m not so sure. What do I do then?
  • Wait! If they have power, how am I supposed to recognize a false prophet when compared to a true one?

Then let the Lord speak to you through this short & easy to understand ebook!

If you are confused about these spiritual gifts and their merit or validity for Christians today, this book is for you! Writing as a result of personal experience, the author was once in the same situation. She was very apprehensive about praying for healing, praying in tongues and everything about prophecy when she first heard about them. Instead of running away and avoiding the questions, she became determined to find the biblical truth of these gifts–whether or not they were valid or even important to the Church. To her surprise, she found detailed answers that the Lord had provided already in His Word! In this short book, the author uses a fun question-and-answer format that makes it seem like you’re having a conversation. This book compiles common questions with biblical answers and examples for easy understanding!
