It’s okay to be quiet.

Do you ever have one of those days when you have no clue what or how to pray? It’s just like the words are dry coming out of your mouth, you are thankful but you just can’t put it into words? You want something but you don’t know how to express it? Or everything you think of just seems inadequate? Plain? Dull? Unimportant?

That totally happened to me yesterday. And I was trying to struggle through it, typing prayers that felt a little bit empty. But then I realized…it’s okay to be speechless.

It’s almost cool to not have anything to say in front of God. It’s certainly not something to be embarrassed of! And I remembered that sitting at His feet is pretty awesome too. And I was glad I didn’t have anything to say! Then I read His words instead 😉

After all, God is in heaven, and you are here on earth. So let your words be few.” Ecclesiastes 5:2 NLT

  1. Then Moses went up to the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain. The glory of the LORD rested on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days; and on the seventh day He called to Moses from the midst of the cloud. And to the eyes of the sons of Israel the appearance of the glory of the LORD was like a consuming fire on the mountain top. Moses entered the midst of the cloud as he went up to the mountain; and Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.
    (Exo 24:15-18 NASB)
40 days and 40 nights Moses is in God’s presence and neither God nor Moses say anything. It’s not until after the 40 days and nights that God speaks first.

Sometimes it’s nice to be in the Lord’s presence and not say anything.
